Mahatma Gandhi said and I quote,"Be the change you want to see in this world." and I unquote. Change is inevitable and is invariably the only constant thing in today's illusionary world. We all love changes, it gives us a break from the monotonous humdrum of our lives. But is always the change for the better? Is the change always accompanied by a better future for that exposed individual to that particular change? 65 years after Independence and we are still enough fickle-minded to be allured by people who are not enough dedicated and committed to the oaths they take.
India boasts of having the largest democracy in the world. It holds its head high over the fact of having the longest constitution. But how many of you actually know even the basic qualities that should be in an Indian that are mentioned in The Preamble? Are you all cent percent secular, sovereign, social, maintain fraternity at all points of time with all sorts of Individuals without discrimination? An average individual cannot help being biased at some point or other. We, Indians are emerging as the new superpower of today's world. Being a part of G-20, BRIC, having nuclear power at our dispense is not a small thing. But that covers only a mere 5-10% of India's 121 crore crowd. What about them, the people who supposedly vote their nominees to govern their very own country?
Statistics say that 60% of the entire middle class doesn't vote. Not because they don't have voter ID cards -- which is also a considerable point but because they are the only "sane" people to not commit the mistake of electing people who just fatten their pockets with our money. The main vote goes from the people below and above the middle class. Or is it actually a vote? I seriously doubt! You all will be well versed with the clashes between opposing parties, well versed with the fact that they are forced to cast their vote in favour of a certain nominee though they may or may not want the person to be elected.
But this very middle class needs to change its perspective. this "sanity" of itself does go a long way in shaping the ineffective government. Their mentality of thinking that a single sincere vote will be ineffective has to be changed. The masses have given up hope that good will ever be done to the common. Its true, money and power empowers all sense of clarity, sincerity in maximum cases. But its not the last word! Rome was not built in a day. France did not become a republic without that single vote casted, Hitler did not come to unquestioned supreme power without that single vote in his favour. The VETO power of every citizen of the country if is righteously attended to; the day will not be far when we the very humble, slightly pessimistic Indians won't regain our former glory, our erstwhile respect from the critics. If the small things are attended to, the bigger picture will fall into place.
You, The very people of India " Arise, awake and stop not still the goal is reached." Cast your vote to the most competent, the most dedicated; one who won't be greedy for money but for respect from its nominators. Do your bit towards the betterment of the society, think rationally and not partially. Do not afraid to give voice to your opinions, your thoughts. You might be martyred, you might not be paid heed to, but if your intentions are noble --- you will get one patient listener who will ponder over your point. Change for the better is not far if you take the initiative. You might not be able to change the world, but you can create a difference!!!
